Frequently asked questions
52 answers covering the studio and every product — privacy, pricing, billing, platform support and the questions people ask most often before downloading.
The studio
What is Drongo?
Drongo is an iOS product studio that develops and publishes focused applications on the App Store across healthcare, productivity, reference and wellbeing. Six products are currently live, the earliest shipping since 2022. Applications are published under Khandker Tafiqul Islam and the studio operates from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Which applications does Drongo publish?
NurseShift (shift and paycheck tracking for nurses), Focus Mate (app blocking, Pomodoro and habit tracking), TTS Reader (AI text-to-speech for PDFs, web pages and scanned text), AntiqScan (AI antique identification and valuation), Planned (daily planner and time blocking) and Affirmly (daily affirmations and guided journaling).
Are the applications available outside the United States?
Yes. All applications are available worldwide on the App Store. Prices shown on this site are US App Store prices; Apple sets equivalent regional pricing in local currency and it varies by territory.
Which Apple platforms are supported?
All six applications run on iPhone and iPad. Every application also runs on Apple silicon Macs. Planned additionally supports Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro, and TTS Reader supports Apple Vision Pro. Minimum iOS version varies by product and is stated on each product page.
Privacy and data
Where is my data stored?
Drongo applications are local-first. Data you create — shifts, tasks, habits, journal entries, collections — is stored on your device and synchronised only through your own iCloud account when you enable that. Several applications, including NurseShift, have no account system at all, so there is no server holding your records.
Does Drongo sell personal information?
No. Drongo does not sell personal information and does not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. Each application publishes a privacy policy listing exactly which service providers process what data.
Do the applications work offline?
Core functionality works offline in every application, because the data is on the device. Features that call a service — AI identification in AntiqScan, speech synthesis, summarisation and translation in TTS Reader — require a connection. TTS Reader can download generated audio for offline playback.
Can I export my data?
NurseShift exports shifts and pay records to CSV and JSON at any time, on the free tier as well as Pro. AntiqScan exports item records as PDF appraisal reports. Export availability for other applications is stated on each product page.
Pricing and billing
How much do the applications cost?
Every application is free to download with a functional free tier, and paid plans unlock the full feature set. Plans range from $2.99 weekly to $59.99 yearly depending on the product. Focus Mate and Planned also offer a one-time lifetime licence at $49.99. Exact pricing is published on each product page before download.
How do I cancel a subscription?
On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, select the application and choose Cancel Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the current billing period ends. Deleting the application does not cancel a subscription.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by Drongo. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, find the purchase and submit a request. Drongo has no access to payment details and cannot issue refunds, but will help establish what happened if a charge looks incorrect.
Is there a one-time purchase instead of a subscription?
Focus Mate and Planned both offer a lifetime licence at $49.99, which unlocks the full feature set permanently with no recurring charge. The other applications are subscription-only.
How do I restore a purchase on a new device?
Install the application, sign in with the same Apple Account used for the original purchase, and select Restore Purchases in the application settings. Entitlements are tied to the Apple Account, not the device.
Support
How do I contact support?
Email info.drongo@gmail.com, or use the support page for the specific application, which pre-fills a message with the diagnostic details needed to investigate. Requests reach the people who build the product; typical response time is two business days.
What should I include in a bug report?
Your device model and iOS version, the application version shown in its settings, what you did, what happened, and what you expected instead. A screenshot or screen recording helps when the problem is visible. Each product support page provides a template covering all of this.
Can I request a feature?
Yes, and customer requests routinely ship. NurseShift’s custom overtime rules exist because a nurse in California explained why the federal weekly-40 calculation produced the wrong figure for her contract. Send the request to the same support address.
NurseShiftProduct page →
Does NurseShift calculate my take-home pay after taxes?
It estimates. You enter your withholding assumptions and NurseShift applies them consistently, which is what makes payroll errors visible. It is not a tax filing tool and does not replace your employer's payroll department.
Can it handle California's daily overtime rules?
Yes. You can choose federal weekly 40, California daily 8 plus weekly 40, or define a custom overtime rule if your facility uses something else.
I work at three different hospitals. Will that work?
That's what the multi-location support is for. Each location keeps its own base rate, differential set and pay period, and the calendar colour-codes shifts by where you worked them.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There is no login. Your shifts live on your device and sync through your own iCloud account if you turn that on.
What happens to my data if I stop paying for Pro?
Nothing is deleted. Your logged shifts stay on your device and you can export everything to CSV or JSON at any time, Pro or not.
Is it only for RNs?
No — it's built around how RNs, LPNs, CNAs, travel nurses and agency nurses actually get paid, but any shift worker with differentials and overtime can use it.
Focus MateProduct page →
How is this different from Apple's built-in Screen Time?
Screen Time is a limit you set and then talk yourself out of. Focus Mate ties blocking to a session you started deliberately, and pairs it with habit tracking and Pomodoro structure so the blocked time has a shape.
Does Deep Focus really stop me opening other apps?
Yes — during a Deep Focus session the apps you've chosen are blocked and their notifications silenced until the session ends.
Is it good for ADHD?
Many people use it that way. Short defined sessions, visible streaks and external blocking are the parts that tend to help. It's a productivity tool, not a clinical one.
What do I get without paying?
Habit tracking and Pomodoro sessions work free. The subscription unlocks Deep Focus, unlimited habits, detailed history and sync.
Is there a one-time purchase?
Yes — a $49.99 lifetime unlock, if you'd rather not run a subscription.
Does it work on Mac?
Yes, on Macs with Apple silicon, and on iPad. Your habits and streaks sync across all of them.
TTS ReaderProduct page →
Can it read a PDF I've been emailed?
Yes. Open the PDF in TTS Reader and it reads it aloud with read-along highlighting, including scanned PDFs via text recognition.
Does it work offline?
Downloaded audio plays offline. Generating new speech, AI summaries and translation need a connection.
Which languages are supported?
The interface is available in 17 languages, and the voice library covers a wide range of languages and regional accents. Check the voice picker in the app for the current list.
Can I listen with the screen off?
Yes — playback continues in the background with Lock Screen controls, like a podcast.
Is there a free tier?
The app is free to download so you can try the voices. Sustained use, AI summaries and offline downloads are part of the subscription.
Does it work on Vision Pro?
Yes, alongside iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs.
AntiqScanProduct page →
Is this a real appraisal?
No, and it doesn't pretend to be. It's a fast, research-grade first opinion — the thing you want before deciding whether an item is worth a professional appraiser's fee. For insurance, probate or sale of a high-value piece, get a certified appraisal.
How accurate is the value estimate?
It varies by category and by how much the photo shows. Marked, well-documented categories like silver, coins and known ceramics do better than unmarked furniture. Every result carries a confidence level — read it.
What kinds of things can it identify?
Ceramics, porcelain, glassware, sterling silver, jewellery, watches, coins, stamps, paintings, prints, sculpture, furniture, lighting, textiles, militaria, toys, books and ephemera, across Georgian through Mid-Century Modern and contemporary collectibles.
Can it read maker's marks?
It uses marks where they're visible, so photograph the base or hallmark as well as the object. A clear shot of a mark improves the result more than anything else you can do.
Do I need a subscription?
The app is free with daily scans included. Pro removes the daily limit and adds unlimited collections, detailed insights, PDF export and the priority appraisal model.
Does it work on things that aren't antique?
Yes — modern collectibles, mid-century pieces and ordinary secondhand items all return a result, which is useful when you're deciding what to keep from a house clearance.
PlannedProduct page →
What's the difference between this and Reminders?
Reminders is a list. Planned puts tasks on a timeline against real hours, which is what surfaces the fact that you've scheduled nine hours of work into a six-hour afternoon.
Do I have to time-block everything?
No. The Inbox holds anything unscheduled indefinitely — capture it now, place it when you're ready, or never.
Does it sync between my iPhone and Mac?
Yes, through iCloud, as part of Pro. Without Pro the app works fully on a single device.
Is there an Apple Watch app?
Yes, plus Home Screen widgets on iPhone and iPad, and it runs on Vision Pro.
Can I set tasks to repeat?
Yes — recurring routines and repeating tasks, on whatever pattern you need.
Is there a one-time purchase?
Yes, a $49.99 lifetime option alongside the weekly, monthly and yearly plans.
AffirmlyProduct page →
How much time does this take?
About a minute each end of the day. That's deliberate — the app is built for people who bounced off meditation apps because thirty minutes was never going to happen.
Do I have to be into manifestation to use it?
No. Plenty of people use it purely as a prompted journal and mood tracker and ignore the manifestation tools entirely.
Where are my journal entries stored?
On your device, encrypted. They are not uploaded to a server run by us.
Can I choose what the affirmations are about?
Yes — pick the themes that match what you're working on and the daily affirmations follow them.
Is this a substitute for therapy?
No. It's a daily reflection habit, not treatment. If you're dealing with something serious, talk to a professional — this sits alongside that, not instead of it.
Does it work on iPad and Mac?
Yes, on iPhone, iPad and Apple silicon Macs.
